USING SEDIMENT TYPE CARTRIDGE FILTERS

Some people try to use sediment type cartridge filters to remove iron. In most cases this does not work well because sediment cartridge filters only remove some red water iron. This type of iron is iron in your well water that has been exposed to air and turned into a sediment form. Bur the most common iron found in most private wells is actually clear water iron. And clear water iron is iron that is dissolved into the water.

If you put clear water iron laden water in a drinking water glass, the water appears clear. Then over time as the air in the water hits the iron, it turns into a sediment form you can see. Clear water iron goes right through a sediment cartridge type filter. So most people simply waste their money trying this method.
